The Swan Smoke & Tap
WW2 Weekend in Ironbridge Gorge

Two of our Ironbridge located venues The Malthouse and The Swan were thrilled to be involved with the extremely popular annual WW2 Weekend held in the Gorge. Taking inspiration from the 1940’s our staff served customers all weekend dressed up as land girls or military personnel, both venues were decorated with bunting and props along with outdoor live music and entertainment which encouraged a great deal of dancing and merriment!

The event has grown rapidly over the past few years, from humble beginnings to an event which attracted around 10,000 visitors during the 2017 weekend. We are lucky to have the stunning backdrop of the Ironbridge Gorge to recreate the experience of life during WW2 on both the home front and in occupied Europe with civilian, Allied and Axis re-enactors.

This non-profit making, charity fundraising event raises funds for the Pilgrim Bandits,  The Pilgrim Bandits have the sole aim of using their unique training and experience to help and inspire wounded soldiers to live life to the full. So far last year’s event raised over £7000! This years total is still to be announced, keep watching our Facebook page for updates!
